The harp is a remarkably versatile instrument, and the Ensemble's repertoire is designed to showcase its versatility. The primary focus of our repertoire is classical, but pieces from other genres are actively included in each performance.
Of particular note is "When Twilight Falls" by Laura Zaerr, a concert fantasy of two Celtic lullabies composed specifically for the American Youth Harp Ensemble. The Ensemble performed the world debut of "When Twilight Falls" with the Richmond Symphony on Mother's Day 2004 with the composer, who is herself an accomplished harpist, present. We are most grateful to Laura for her efforts and her confidence in allowing the Ensemble the privilege of debuting her work.
