October 2009

  • 3 Saturday - SAVOR Gala to benefit the Hospital Hospitality House, 7:30-10:30pm.
  • 5 Monday - Lakewood Manor Performance, 6:30-7:30 pm.
  • 25 Sunday - OktoberFest 10th Anniversary Celebration, German Music and Food Festival at Grace Baptist Church. Concert at 4pm and dinner at 5pm. This is a ticketed, family friendly event.
  • 29 Thursday - “Haunted Harps” concert, Children’s Hospital, 6-7pm.

November 2009

  • 2 Monday - Covenant Woods Retirement Home, 7-8pm.
  • 4 Wednesday - Middle Eastern Music Workshop with guest artist.
  • 14 Saturday - Prelude concert for the Richmond Forum presentation of Astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson in “An Out of This World Evening”

December 2009

  • 1 Tuesday - 10th Anniversary Celebration & Fundraiser! Ring in the season with delicious food and fabulous fellowship all for a great cause at Baker’s Crust, Carytown. Dine anytime between 5-9pm, let the server know you are a supporter of the AYHE and 15% of the proceeds will be donated to the AYHE! Celebrate the exact date the AYHE started 10 years ago with current students, alumni, AYHE friends and family!
  • 4 Friday - Jefferson Hotel Holiday Concert with the Richmond Montessori School Choir, 12:00 pm
  • 4 Friday - Bon Secours Party, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, 6:30-11:30 pm
  • 4-6 Fri-Sun - Holiday Harper’s Bazaar, Grace Baptist Church. One Stop Shopping!
  • 6 Sunday - Grace Baptist Church Performance, 11-12pm
  • 6 Sunday - 10th Anniversary Celebration Holiday Concert, “Holidays Around the World” Grace Baptist Church, 2:00pm.This will be a ticketed, family friendly event.
  • 13 Sunday - Touring Ensemble mini-holiday concert tour to North Carolina as guest artists on the Wake Forest Baptist Church Fine Arts Series, 3pm
  • 16 &18 Wed & Fri - Harp Therapy Outreach holiday concerts

January 2010

  • 22 Friday - Legendary Harpist Alphonse Hasselman’s Tribute Concert in Memory of Geraldine Hasslemans Hernandez, St. Bridget Catholic Church, Three Chopt Road, 7-8pm, reception to follow.

February 2010

  • 5 Friday - Student Recitals
  • 13 Saturday - “Celtic Heart” 10th Anniversary Celebration concert, Gayton Kirk Presbyterian Church, 7:00 pm. This is a ticketed, family friendly event.
  • 17 Wednesday - Appalachain Music Workshop with guest artist.

March 2010

  • 17 Wednesday - St. Patrick’s Day Concert, Hermitage at Cedarfield, 7:30pm.
  • 17 Wednesday - Danny Boy Project CD Release. The CD will be featured on-air all day on WCVE 88.9FM
  • 20 Saturday - Nordstrom’s Department Store Performance, 1-2pm
  • 20 Saturday - Juried Art Show Performance by Harp Therapy Outreach Students, Resources for Independent Living Center, 11-3pm
  • 27 Saturday - Back by Popular Demand! Monument Avenue 10K Concert, 8-10:30am

April 2010

  • 2 Friday - Featured performance on the 2nd Stage Series at the Glen Allen Cultural Arts Center at 7pm. Features our pop and jazz repertoire!
  • 14 Wednesday - Workshop with Grainne Hambly and William Jackson, Grace Baptist Church, 4-6pm, ($20 participant fee)
  • 15 Thursday - "Masters of the Celtic Harp" Concert featuring Grainne Hambly and William Jackson, 7pm. This is a ticketed, family friendly event.
  • 30 Friday - “Springtime in Paris” 10th Anniversary Gala and Auction, Richmond Country Club, 5:30-9pm.

May 2010

  • 5 Wednesday - Cinco de Arpa: Feature Performance at Westminister Canterbury in honor of Harwood and Louise Cochrane. Premiere performance of Frank Voltz's "You are My Sunshine" arrangement, the Cochrane's favorite song! Performance at 7:30pm.
  • 23 Sunday - Lakeside United Methodist Church service, 11-12pm.
  • 23 Sunday - “Spring Serenade” Annual Spring Concert at LUMC, 2:00pm.

June 2010

  • 4 Friday - Student Recitals
  • 9 & 11, Wed & Fri - Harp Therapy Outreach/Mentorship end of year concerts
  • 13 Sunday - Grace Baptist Church Performance, 11-12pm.
  • 13 Sunday - 10th Anniversary “World Music Showcase and Celebration Concert”, 4:00pm at GBC. This will be a ticketed, family friendly event.
  • 16 Wednesday - Harp Therapy performance at GBC Talent Show
  • 30 Wednesday - Performance at the Austrian Embassy at 7:30pm and is open to the public. 3524 International Court NW, Washington, D.C. 20008. Tickets are $20, and can be purchased through InstantSeats.

July 2010

  • 19th Monday, 7PM - Harpist Rebecca Brown, In Concert. Ms. Brown, member of the AYHE and its intern for two years, will give a solo recital at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church at 8619 Blacks Mill Rd, Creagerstown, MD, 21788. Free-will offering; 7PM.
  • 20th Tuesday, 7PM - An Evening of Solo and Chamber Works for Harp. From classical to folk to jazz, this concert will showcase the versatility of the harp at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church (see above). Free-will offering.
  • 22nd Thursday, 7PM- Masters of the Celtic Harp. World-class harpists Grainne Hambly of County Mayo, Ireland and Willam Jackson of Glasgow, Scotland will blend the Irish and Scottish musical traditions on the harp at St. Paul's Utica Lutheran Church, 10625 Old Frederick Rd., Thurmont, MD 21788. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and children.
  • 23rd Friday, 4PM - Final Concert of the Maryland Summer Harp Institute. MSHI students will present a "works in progress" concert, featuring in part guest artists William Jackson and Grainne Hambly at St. Paul's Utica Lutheran Church (see above). Free-will offering.
